Hanley Park (including Cauldon Campus Grounds) is now the focus of an exciting stage one restoration project, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund and Big Lottery Fund through their Parks For People programme.
This means that the park has been granted an initial sum of money to undertake detailed planning work for a £4.5m Stage 2 funding application. This will be submitted in August 2014.
Stoke-on-Trent City Council is working in partnership with Staffordshire University, Stoke-on-Trent College, and the Friends of Hanley Park, to take this process forward. If our next application is successful, the comprehensive restoration of the park is likely to begin in Spring 2016, with possible completion during 2018.
As part of the planning process, we need to gauge park users' and local communities' opinions of the park, and their aspirations for its future. This work is also taking place in and around the park, with local groups and organisations, and through local stakeholder forums, that will take place in early 2014.
